iPads in classroom?
Time reports about a recent study: iPad 2 helped score better tests results.
Any comment needed?
A new study shows that students who use iPads in the classroom score better in literacy tests than those who don’t. As previously reported, educators in Auburn, Maine began instructing 266 kindergarteners using the iPad 2 this fall, and those who used the tablet scored higher on literacy tests and were more enthused about learning, according to Apple blog TUAW.

Just shortly after we reviewed Life on Earth, we found some pretty outspoken article on The Guardian by Matt Britland, head of ICT at Kingston Grammar School.
Following the introduction of iBooks 2 and Apple’s interest into textbooks and iBooks Author, many observers are now arguing how much these tools will help/impact school education.
Matt’s pick?
Is this really the digital revolution that Apple would lead us to believe? Or is simply an update of CD-ROM textbooks on an expensive mobile device? Is this something students will buy into or am I looking …

Regexecution is a reference for regular expressions (commonly used in *nix, Mac OS X, PHP, Perl and a lot more programming languages).
Available as an iPad app, allows full character searching and real-time testing.
As anyone involved into programming and Mac OS X scripting, we deal almost every day with regular expressions, those somehow cryptic and pretty concise language expressions that provide great help in getting text and number pattern out of messy data.
It’s common in Perl, *nix shell scripting (hence the Mac OS X), PHP, Python, Ruby and more, so you’d …

A father+son team from Park Slope decided NASA wasn’t doing enough to document the stratosphere, and decided to take matters into their own hands.
After testing their “19-inch helium filled weather balloon” in Brooklyn, Luke Geissbuhler and his son Max headed upstate and launched the device, complete with a camera and an iPhone, into space… nearly 19 miles (around 100,000 feet) above the Earth’s surface.
The craft was an 19-inch helium-filled weather balloon attached to a Styrofoam capsule that housed an HD video camera and an iPhone (!).
The camera recorded video …

Educational iPad apps and games from Punflay are on sale until Thursday, September 16th.
